Meet Romel

Romel Shearer is a Bahamian cellist based in Nassau, The Bahamas. Raised between Nassau and the United States, he began his formal musical training in Texas, where he studied with internationally acclaimed cellist and pedagogue Dr. Jesús Castro-Balbi at Texas Christian University on a full-tuition music scholarship. He has appeared as a guest soloist and orchestral cellist with ensembles in The Bahamas and the United States, including the San Angelo Symphony, Irving Symphony Orchestra, and the Bahamas National Symphony Orchestra. Beyond performance, Romel is a music curator and arts leader working at the intersection of the performing and visual arts. He is the founder of Circle of Fifths, a platform dedicated to professional development, collaboration, and ecosystem-building within the Bahamian music community. Through his curatorial and creative work, he remains deeply invested in shaping thoughtful, interdisciplinary artistic experiences in The Bahamas.
